90% of people breath suboptimally!!

Breathing is natural.  Taking a breath is the first thing we do when we are born – and the last thing we do before we die.

However, research shows that we are not breathing for optimal Health and wellbeing.  In fact it is claimed that 90% (and I have seen that figured quoted as 93% by one scholar) - 90% of people are breathing in such a way that they are not supporting their health and wellbeing.

This workshop will share some of the groundbreaking research behind breathing. It will highlight the neurology and physiology of the breath, and it will highlight what oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitric oxide does to your body, your mind, and your nervous system.

This workshop will share with you a suite of practical tools so that you can enhance your own breathing, and it will enable you to calibrate others’ breathing and give you some insight into how it may be impacting on their emotional state and behaviour.

By diving into a deeper understanding of the physiology of breath, you can make wiser choices around which breathing pattern is best for your body – instead of just following a set pattern, offered for a mass audience. For example, there will be times when you want to use your breath for creating more energy and there will be times when you want to use your breath to generate calm.  Being able to:

  •  self calibrate where your system is at,

  • determine where you would like it to be at,

  • and then having choice of how to use your physiology to change your autonomic state –

will ensure that you can optimally use your breath and enhance your own wellbeing.

We will answer:

  • Should I breathe through my nose or my mouth?

  • How do I use my breathe to get into (and stay in) ‘flow’?

  • How can I create calm when life is tough?

  • What breathing exercises really work?

  • Why do some people advocate holding your breath?

  • How can I assist someone who is stressing and struggling with their breath?

  • And much more …

This workshop is more than a breathe of fresh air... it has the potential to change your health and wellbeing with immediate effect

Come and join us and be surprised at the power of your breath and how little we know about something we do 22,000 times a day.

What past delegates have said about the workshop

Suzanne was very knowledgeable and she explained her workshop in very user friendly language.

Suzanne managed the workshop so well, being able to answer people's questions and weave her answers into the course. I felt that I could ask a question and not be someone who is seen to be distracting from a rigid presentation. Thank you, Suzanne, for sharing your knowledge and giving me good reasons to take note of my own breathing.

Learning when to use different breathing techniques for relaxation or for stimulating - depending on person's state.

The importance of yawning and how it affects breaking down stress/anxiety

Found it all helpful: The CO2 and O2 exercises physiological sigh breathing in/out through the nose

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for people who are aware of their own breathing pattern and wish to understand it better and be able to control their breathing to achieve the desired outcome.

It is also very beneficial for anyone in charge of a team: become more aware of other team members breathing, what this means and what you can do to support this.

NOTE - If your organisation is interested in having Suzanne present face-face to your team as a private workshop, please contact feona@grow.co.nz for more information.
