Empowering Adults: Guiding Teens towards Healthy Relationships

In today's dynamic world, nurturing healthy relationships among teenagers is more crucial than ever. "Empowering Adults: Guiding Teens towards Healthy Relationships" is a comprehensive workshop designed to equip adults with the tools, insights, and strategies necessary to support teenagers in building and maintaining positive relationships.

This interactive workshop delves into various aspects of adolescent relationships, including communication skills, boundaries, consent, and understanding emotional intelligence. Participants will explore the challenges teens face in navigating relationships in the digital age and learn effective ways to address these challenges.

Key topics covered are:

1. Healthy relationships
Exploring what it means to have healthy relationships, and how to set boundaries to ensure safety and wellbeing

2. When relationships go wrong
Exploring the differences between healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationships, and how to manage harm in relationships

3. Consent
Exploring the topic of consent and the complexities that come with negotiating consent in relationships

4. Communication
Exploring the topic of healthy communication and how to have tricky conversations with people we care about

5. Gender and identity
Exploring the impact of gender stereotypes on individual wellbeing and relationships

6. Online activity/harm
Exploring healthy versus unhealthy relationships in an online context, and where to go for help when things go wrong

7. Pornography
Exploring the topic of pornography and how it impacts people’s lives and relationships

8. Support options in Aotearoa New Zealand
Exploring what it means to both get and give support when relationships go wrong


This workshop is worth 20 points/8 hours CPD.

If you work with teens either as a teacher, a counsellor, youth worker, social worker or any other capacity, you will find this workshop helpful in empowering you to guide teens through many challenges in today's dynamic world. Presenters

Marge Pryor

Marge joined Empowerment Trust in 2019 as a facilitator educating youth with ACC’s Mates & Dates, a healthy dating relationships programme, arming rangatahi with information to strengthen their resiliency, raising awareness on the importance of sexual violence prevention. She has also worked as a foster mentor, Youthline counsellor and life coach, and brings years of experience from her time in the corporate sector.

Born and bred in Aotearoa, Marge has a love for travelling the world. She enjoys the variety of cultures, cuisines and values that make each nation. She is a proud mother of two adult children who inspire her to learn more and do better. In her own time, Marge loves going to live music events, spending time with whānau and friends and is bit of a self-development junkie.

Olivia Hall

Olivia has been with Empowerment Trust since 2022, after returning from London where she completed her Masters in Gender at the London School of Economics. She is incredibly passionate about discourse and education which empowers people to make positive decisions.

Alongside this work, Liv is currently the Acting Executive Director for a small sexual health charity, and is a performance poet who has toured Aotearoa and overseas with her poetry theatre works.

Registration process

Payment online is by debit or credit card (VISA, Mastercard or American Express) only and there are 3 easy steps to complete the online booking process.  

Our registration platform is hosted by Lil Regie, our NZ based booking agent. Upon completing your registration by hitting the blue 'Confirm Booking' button, you will receive an automated email confirming the booking and amount paid by credit card. A GST Tax Invoice showing your payment in full will also be emailed to you. This will appear on your statement as from LIL REGIE LTD WELLINGTON.  

Can't pay online and require an invoice?

We work hard to ensure that all workshops are cost effective by automating our systems. If you require an invoice (rather than paying by credit card) there will be a $25 surcharge for this, and you will need to supply:

  • The full name and postal address required to appear on the invoice.

  • The contact name and email of the person(s) responsible for authorising this expense and approving payment.

  • Any purchase order references required on vendor invoices.

What happens if you have to cancel?

We know that sometimes your plans can change for many different reasons. Should you be unable to attend, a substitute delegate is welcome to attend at no extra cost. If a substitute delegate is not available and you need to cancel your registration, please be aware of the following:

Up to 7 days prior to the event you will be provided a refund of your registration cost, less a $20.00 inc GST per attendee service charge.

If you cancel within 7 days of the event, you are not eligible to receive a refund. Please note: should your registration not be paid by the time of the event, you are still liable to make the payment. Unpaid accounts may be passed over to our debt collection agency and additional costs may be incurred. 
All cancellations must be received in writing (email). 
Training is cancellable by GROW with 3 days’ notice if a minimum number of attendees is not met and full refunds will be provided.
